A day on the water around Bonaire takes very little preparation, but a few things are best sorted out in advance. This is the list we give every guest ourselves.
Sort out in advance
- Stinapa Nature Tag. Required by law for everyone who goes out on the water and only sold online; kids 11 and under are exempt. You can read all about it on our Marine Park page.
- Reservations. Especially in high season, the boats and tours fill up fast. Book ahead or message us on WhatsApp for a last-minute spot.
What to bring
- Swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a cap or hat
- Food and drinks with ice; you’re welcome to use the cooler on board free of charge
- A towel and a camera or a waterproof phone case
- For a rental boat: count on a $15 fuel charge and a $500 deposit
On our sailing tours there’s an open bar on board, and the crew provides the snorkel gear, including full-face masks.
On the day
- Be at the dock at Harbour Village Marina 15 minutes before departure; that leaves time for the briefing.
- With a rental boat, we give you the map, explain the yellow moorings and tell you where it’s most beautiful that day.
- It’s almost always breezy on Bonaire, and on the water the sun feels gentler than it really is. Put on sunscreen more often than you think you need to.
